Starting this Wednesday, I'm teaching English live on Twitch. Every week, same time, a real lesson from start to finish, and you can take part from wherever you are.
When
Every Wednesday at 22:30 JST. The first stream is Wednesday, October 21.
- Japan and Korea: 22:30
- Philippines and Taiwan: 21:30
- UK: 14:30
- Central Europe: 15:30
- US East: 9:30 AM
- Brazil: 10:30 AM
The Schedule tab on the channel shows it in your own time zone. The lesson runs about 75 minutes, then I stay on for an open study half-hour: bring your questions, or just study with us.
How to join in
- Answer in chat. When a question opens, type your answer: a, b, or the word.
- Or join on your phone. Scan the QR code on screen, or open classflo-6e5a7.web.app/vote and type the class code. No account, no download.
- Or just watch. That's welcome too.
The first lesson: The Map That Lied
Every lesson is built around one real article. Week one is The Map That Lied: the words first, then the reading, a listening round, and a quiz to finish.
Then it's your turn to test me. Ask me a question in Japanese. If I get it wrong, I do five sit-ups on camera. I'm still learning too, so I expect to be doing a lot of sit-ups.
After the stream
Every lesson goes into the free Lesson Library, with audio, so you can study it again on your own. The words go onto BabbleCards as flashcards.
For teachers
The stream runs on ClassFlo, the app I built for my own classes: the same teacher console, classroom screen and student phones you'd use in a real room. If you've wondered what a ClassFlo lesson looks like from the inside, come and watch one, and steal anything that's useful.
